The Write Typer ("we", "us", "our") takes great care in preparing, describing and packaging every typewriter, accessory and product we sell.

If for some reason you are not satisfied with a typewriter or there is something faulty upon receipt of a typewriter, please contact the Shop immediately. There is a very good chance we can find a fix together, either through email communication or a video chat.

This Returns & Refund Policy explains how returns and refunds are handled when you purchase products from The Write Typer.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

1. Before Purchasing

We encourage customers to carefully review all available information before purchasing, including:

product descriptions;
photographs;
condition notes;
details of any restoration, refurbishment, repairs or servicing.

If you have questions about a typewriter or product before purchasing, please contact us and we will be happy to provide further information wherever possible.

2. Returns of Products

If you are not satisfied with a typewriter, The Write Typer accepts returns within 14 days of delivery, provided the item is returned in the same condition in which it was received

If you wish to return a typewriter or accessory, please contact us before sending the item back.

Returned products should:

be returned within the applicable statutory time frame where cancellation rights apply;
be packaged securely to prevent damage during transit;
include any accessories, components or items supplied with the product;
be returned in the same condition in which it was received.

Nothing in this policy limits any rights you may have where a product is faulty, not as described, or otherwise covered by consumer protection legislation.

3. Cancellations

Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund. After this window, cancellations may not be possible if the item has already been dispatched.

Dispatched items cannot be cancelled. Once an item has been dispatched, unwanted items fall under the Shop's return policy. Shipping charges will apply. This applies even if the parcel has not yet been delivered or opened, and includes any return collection costs where applicable.

4. Vintage Typewriter and Accessory Condition

We do our best to point out signs of use and age-related wear on all of our typewriters. Nevertheless, certain minor imperfections or age-related wear may not be included in descriptions or photos. We ask customers to keep in mind that vintage typewriters and vintage accessories are older items with their own history, character and condition.

Unless specifically described otherwise, customers should expect that vintage items may show signs of:

age;
previous use;
cosmetic wear;
minor imperfections;
replacement or refurbished components.

These characteristics are part of the appeal and history of vintage items and are not automatically considered faults.

As mentioned, we take care to describe condition accurately and highlight any significant issues that may affect use, appearance or value.

5. Restored and Refurbished Typewriters

Where a typewriter has been serviced or refurbished by us, we will describe the work carried out and any relevant improvements where appropriate.

This may include:

cleaning;
adjustment;
repair;
replacement of certain components.

The purpose of servicing or refurbishment is to improve operation, reliability and presentation while preserving the character of the original typewriter.

However, serviced or refurbished vintage typewriters remain historical mechanical items. They may continue to show characteristics associated with their age, construction and previous use.

6. Returning Typewriters and Vintage Accessories

Because vintage typewriters and accessories are often delicate, unique and irreplaceable items, they must be packaged carefully when being returned.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that returned items are packaged appropriately using all original packing to prevent damage during transit.

If a returned item is damaged due to inadequate packaging, this may be taken into account when assessing the condition of the return.

A tracked and insured delivery service should be used when returning typewriters and accessories.

7. Vintage Accessories and Ribbons

We sell a range of vintage and used accessories, as well as occasional new accessories such as ribbons.

Vintage accessories may show signs of age, previous use or wear consistent with their history. These characteristics will be described where relevant.

New ribbons and other unused consumable items will be supplied as described.

Returns of accessories, ribbons and other products will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law.

Where permitted by law, opened or used consumable items may not be eligible for return unless they are faulty or not as described.

8. Faulty or Incorrect Items

If you believe that a product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please provide:

your order details;
a description of the issue;
photographs or other relevant information where helpful.

We will assess the issue and work with you to provide an appropriate solution in accordance with your legal rights.

9. Refunds

Where a refund is due, we will refund payments using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.

Refunds will be processed within the time frame required by applicable law.

Where required by law, refunds will include applicable delivery charges. Additional costs, such as premium delivery upgrades, may not be refundable where permitted by law.
