{"product_id":"script-cursive-olympia-sf-typewriter-very-good-platen-with-case-renewed-restored-ready-to-write","title":"Script (Cursive) Olympia SF Typewriter","description":"This is a 1964 Olympia SF De Luxe. It is in excellent condition, with a still-soft platen and well-preserved internal parts; but, what makes this SF special is its uncommon script typeface (script elite No. 69). It is a lovely, flowing typeface that mimics handwritten cursive, with characters joining nicely despite being typed separately. To get the typewriter in tip-top shape and ensure its operation for years to come, the machine has been disassembled, deep-cleaned, adjusted, waxed and buffed to a shine. It comes with a new, high-quality black\/red ribbon and its original case.\n\nAn ultra-portable typewriter, the SF model manages to fit Olympia's excellent engineering into a tight, well built frame, one that is much smaller than its SM cousins (SM1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9). As such, it is one of the best options to be found in the ultraportable class of typewriters. \n\nCosmetically, this SF is in very good condition. The paint has been cleaned, polished and waxed with museum-grade microcrystalline wax. The off-white, smooth ribbon cover is particularly reflective. The only marks to speak of are two small grazes on the left side of the ribbon cover, where the return arm has rubbed against the ribbon cover (a common malady on Olympia SF and Splendid machines). Other than these grazes, there are two minor dimple-dents to the back left and right grey sections - quite inconspicuous \u0026amp; with no effect on the typewriter's functioning.\n\nThe plastic keytops are in excellent condition, and have been cleaned and polished with plastic polish. The green plastic platen knobs are in excellent condition and have also been polished with plastic polish.\n\nOn SF and Splendid typewriters, there is a piece of silver card used to cover the baseplate beneath the keyboard. This piece was in poor condition on this SF, so I removed it and installed a piece of white card drawn to the same measurements. You can see this change when looking through the keyboard.\n\nThis SF's internal mechanisms are of high quality, and the carriage return is smooth and steady. The chrome return arm is larger than those on many other ultra-portables, perhaps making it a better choice for those who struggle with small return arms. The typing action, very secure for an ultraportable, can be adjusted by a touch control lever, which makes slight adjustments to the tension required to depress keys. Good, punchy touch-typing is required for good, consistent print quality on an SF.\n\nThis typewriter has been disassembled and completely cleaned with an appropriate solvent, and lubrication has been applied where necessary. The internals are in great shape.\n\nThe platen is in very good shape and has a sufficient amount of give, unlike the hard platens found on many vintage and antique typewriters. The rubber rollers are in excellent condition and, along with the platen, have been cleaned and renewed with rubber rejuvinator. All mechanical features found on this typewriter are in working order and include carriage shift, shift lock, margins, margin release, backspace, line space regulator, colour selector, silent return, platen detente release, paper support and bell.\n\nThe \"Olympia\" decal on the ribbon cover is in good condition, but it has lost a little of its silver colouring. All chrome finishing has been polished to a shine and is in excellent shape.\n\nThis typewriter comes with its original leatherette case, which has been cleaned and is in good condition. There are some age-related marks to the inside, and some cracking to the vinyl covering where the lid and base of the case meet at the back. The handle fixings have received a polishing and shine nicely. The zip is intact and closes, and the handle is in great shape and can be used to carry the closed case.\n\nA new, high-quality ribbon has been installed, and print quality is very good. It prints script elite at 11 cpi (characters per inch).\n\nThe typewriter will be carefully packaged in a well-sized cardboard box with signed-for delivery and insurance.\n\nPlease be aware, duties may be charged to the buyer for overseas purchases !\n\nPlease review the estimated dates of delivery below before purchase. For all orders shipped to addresses outside of the UK I aim for delivery of your order within 5-6 days of shipment (very often, delivery takes as little as 3-4 days). I am not responsible for delays caused by shipping companies, couriers, or customs officials, but I will always work to contact shipping companies to resolve a delay should one occur.\n\n! PLEASE NOTE ! - offshore UK addresses have increased postage costs, and I kindly request an additional £10 if required to ship to such an address. Please inquire if you require such shipment, and I'll be happy to work with you!\n\nI enjoy refurbishing typewriters as well as typing on them. My process of reconditioning typewriters is a sympathetic one: careful cleaning, lubrication and repairs and\/or replacement of parts when necessary. I sell typewriters that I have regularly used for writing; if not, they have gone through thorough testing and adjustment to make sure they are up to writing speed. If you have any questions about the typewriter or what you're after, please let me know.","brand":"The Write Typer","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57873549918539,"sku":null,"price":585.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1046\/5624\/0971\/files\/992ebddf-il_fullxfull.7542000507_lpui.jpg?v=1784133538","url":"https:\/\/thewritetyper.com\/products\/script-cursive-olympia-sf-typewriter-very-good-platen-with-case-renewed-restored-ready-to-write","provider":"The Write Typer","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
